Can I Change or Return My Rent2Buy Van Early?
Business needs can change. A customer may later need a larger van, a smaller van, a newer vehicle or no van at all.
Rent2Buy allows more flexibility than some customers expect, but changing or returning the van is not something the customer should arrange independently.
The Rent2Buy team must be contacted before any action is taken.
Can I Return the Van Early?
The current customer information states that a van can be returned by giving seven days’ notice.
There is normally no separate cancellation fee, but that does not mean the account will always end with nothing further to pay.
Charges may still apply for:
• Outstanding monthly payments
• Excess mileage
• Vehicle damage
• Missing items
• Unpaid invoices
• Other agreement breaches
The team should inspect the account and vehicle before confirming the final position.
Can I Change to a Different Van?
An exchange may be possible, subject to review.
The current customer guidance states that where the agreement has been held for longer than 12 months and payments have been made on time, the customer may be able to exchange for a different or newer vehicle without another initial rental.
Where the vehicle has been held for less than 12 months, an additional initial rental may be required.
This should not be treated as automatic approval. The team must still consider:
• Payment history
• Current account position
• Vehicle condition
• Mileage
• Replacement-vehicle availability
• The cost of the replacement
• Current affordability
• Any outstanding charges
Can I Change to a Larger Van?
You may request a larger vehicle if your business now needs more load space, payload or seating.
A larger or more valuable van may have a higher monthly payment. The team may need to complete a fresh affordability review and confirm whether the replacement falls within an acceptable payment range.
Can I Change to a Smaller Van?
A customer may ask for a smaller van because of fuel costs, parking, changing work or reduced carrying needs.
A smaller van is not guaranteed to reduce every cost, and the existing vehicle still needs to be assessed. The replacement agreement and any applicable initial rental must be confirmed before the exchange takes place.
What If I No Longer Need a Van?
Contact the Rent2Buy team as soon as possible.
Do not stop payments, cancel insurance or abandon the vehicle. The agreement continues until the return process has been completed and the van has been handed back as instructed.
The team can explain:
• The notice process
• Where and when to return the vehicle
• What documents and keys are required
• How mileage will be checked
• How condition will be assessed
• Whether any amount remains due
What Condition Must the Van Be In?
The van should be maintained, serviced and returned with the supplied items.
Charges may arise for damage beyond acceptable wear, including significant body damage, missing equipment, poor interior condition or other costs described in the agreement.
The customer should not wait until the return date to mention a fault or accident.
What Happens to Excess Mileage?
The normal mileage allowance is 3,000 miles per month.
Mileage above that level is charged at 20p plus VAT per mile. Any final mileage position should be confirmed when the vehicle is returned or exchanged.
Can I Sell or Part-Exchange the Van Myself?
No.
The vehicle remains owned by Vansco Limited during the active Rent2Buy agreement. The customer must not sell, advertise, transfer, scrap or part-exchange it independently.
Only the Rent2Buy team can approve and arrange an exchange or return.
Why Is Choosing the Right Van at the Start Important?
Although a later change may be possible, selecting the correct vehicle at the beginning can avoid:
• Another affordability review
• A new initial rental
• Vehicle-return charges
• Business disruption
• Waiting for suitable replacement stock
• A higher monthly payment
Consider the work you expect to carry out, mileage, access, payload, number of seats and future business needs before reserving a van.
