What Happens After I Pay the £200 Rent2Buy Vehicle Deposit?
Once you have chosen a Rent2Buy vehicle and paid the £200 vehicle deposit against that specific vehicle, the van is reserved for you and enters the preparation process.
This £200 payment is important because a Rent2Buy vehicle is not reserved while you are deciding. Until the deposit is paid, it remains available and another customer may select it.
Rent2Buy is a rental-to-ownership scheme and is separate from conventional van finance. It does not use a credit check, although applications are still assessed using affordability evidence, identity documents and eligibility checks.
What happens immediately after the £200 deposit?
The vehicle is marked as reserved against your selection and can move into the preparation queue. The office will also make sure the remaining application and collection requirements are in place.
The £200 vehicle deposit should not be confused with the full initial rental. An initial rental is payable before collection, and the exact amount depends on the individual vehicle and agreement.
How is the van prepared?
Preparation may include a new 12-month MOT, a service, a pre-collection inspection and a valet. The work required depends on the individual vehicle and what is needed before it is ready to collect.
Because preparation is vehicle-specific, customers should not be promised a fixed completion time unless the team has confirmed one for that van.
Can I collect the van as soon as I pay the deposit?
Not automatically. Paying the £200 deposit reserves the vehicle, but collection happens only after the vehicle is ready and the remaining agreement, payment, insurance and eligibility requirements have been completed.
Rent2Buy vehicles are collected from the Southampton/Cadnam area. Delivery is not included.
What do I need before collection?
You will need to meet the requirements confirmed for your agreement. Rent2Buy customers must arrange fully comprehensive insurance in their own or their company's name before collection.
The office will also confirm any remaining initial-rental payment and collection arrangements. Check the individual agreement rather than assuming the same figures or timing apply to every vehicle.
Can I change my mind and choose another vehicle after paying the deposit?
Do not assume a reservation can simply be moved to a different van. Rent2Buy vehicles, prices and availability change regularly, and any change should be discussed with the office before another vehicle is selected.
If a different vehicle is requested, its monthly price and suitability for the customer's approved monthly vehicle limit may need to be considered.
Does paying the £200 deposit guarantee the whole application?
No. The deposit reserves the chosen vehicle; it should not be described as guaranteed acceptance. Rent2Buy applications remain subject to affordability, identity, documents and final eligibility checks.
FAQs
Is the £200 vehicle deposit the same as the initial rental?
No. The £200 payment reserves the specific vehicle. A separate initial rental is payable before collection, with the exact amount set for the individual agreement.
Is my van reserved before I pay the £200?
No. Until the £200 deposit is paid against the specific vehicle, it remains available to other customers.
Will the van be delivered to me?
No. Rent2Buy is collection only from the Southampton/Cadnam area; delivery is not included.
Does the £200 deposit mean I own the van?
No. During a Rent2Buy agreement the customer rents and drives the vehicle. Ownership does not pass simply because the reservation deposit has been paid.
